Thamesmead Facility Intranet

The facility intranet has very little contact with public internet. It is mainly provided as a research and study resource within the facility itself, which makes for somewhat boring surfing. Its most popular feature amongst subjects, by far, is the instant messaging system. Instant messaging threads can be posted here.

Land Lines & Frequencies

This board is for all of your character phone conversations and text messages. You may post with another player, or you can write up your own call transcripts. (Remember, all land line communications through the facility are monitored by facility staff. Mobile phones for subjects may be purchased through RP Reward Points and good behaviour.)

Atrium Terrace

The Atrium Terrace is located directly outside of Atrium Level 1. When weather permits, meals and refreshments from the cafeteria may be enjoyed outside at this location. The terrace is a contemporary wooden deck that overlooks the landscaped gardens below.

The Gardens

The gardens are meticulously maintained, contemporary in design, and boast outdoor seating areas, shaded trees and modern gazebo structures. The north side of the gardens offer views of the Thames and London's Docklands on the opposite shore.

Northside Refreshments

Northside Refreshments is a small cafe located at the north-eastern edge of the gardens. It offers mainly drinks, from coffee to smoothies and supplies a few requisite pastries and baked goods. it is a popular hang-out place for young people, with both indoor and outdoor seating available.

The Arcade

Located to the south of the facility grounds, The Arcade is just as it sounds. It offers a hang-out spot for young people complete with the latest gaming systems and facilities for cards, dice and board games.

Southside Spinney

Southside Spinney is a nature reserve at the south-west corner of the facility grounds. This are has been allowed to grow naturally back into a 'spinney', or a small area of woods and bushes. A pond is located within this area, with wooded trails throughout and bench seating.

Reception

Reception is the point through which all staff and subjects pass when they first arrive at the Thamesmead Facility. Subject and staff files are kept here. The facility information desk is here, and questions and concerns may be addressed to the reception staff here. All new arrivals go through preliminary processing at this location.

Staff Offices

These are the public offices of the facility's administrative, educational, medical and psychiatric staff. These are different from the private offices on levels 6 and 7. Individual therapy and tutoring takes place here, and staff may be approached here to answer questions and concerns.

The Medical Department

The medical department is made up of various sections. These include examination rooms, a trauma unit, patient rooms, laboratories, a small OR, and an observation room. At the centre of this arrangement is the nurses' station, where patients may check in or request medical assistance.

The Cafeteria

The cafeteria is open from seven o'clock in the morning to eight o'clock at night. Staff and subjects alike may visit at any time when they are not engaged in previously schedules classes, therapy or activities. The menu on offer is varied but carefully planned to keep a balanced and healthy diet. Junk food is a rarity here. Drinks and snacks may also be procured between classes, and all food and drink is free of charge.

The Atrium

The atrium is a popular indoor hangout area located at the opposite end of the building from the reception and staff offices. The rounded glass walls offer views of the facility grounds to the south and east, and the spot is a sunny, relaxed place to study or spend time with friends.

Group Therapy Rooms

These rooms are used both for education subjects and psychiatric subjects, for the purposes of group therapy sessions and psychiatric evaluations in social settings. These rooms are locked when not in use. Inside the rooms, the decor is typical to the rest of the facility, primarily white and contemporary. The provided seating is very lightweight for ease of movement and for the physical safety of group therapy participants.

The Classrooms

The classrooms are used for all subjects and all areas of study. Classes are small in number, and tailored to working with gifted participants. Studies are in depth and made to tax adept minds. Each classroom is designed for the subject to be taught within it, and apparatus, resources and methods are all cutting edge.

The Gymnasium

The gymnasium is just as it sounds. It is capable of being set up for a vast array of sports, from indoor tennis to football (soccer), basketball and netball. It also has supervised facilities for gymnastics and weight training. The gymnasium is used for a number of scheduled group activities such as dance classes or alternative group therapies.

The Auditorium

The auditorium is used for all facility assemblies, as well as musical or theatrical productions. Music and drama classes are held here. The backstage is equipped with changing rooms, full height rigging and electrical capabilities, and practice rooms. Access to rigging and electrical systems is by supervision only.

Level 5 Seclusion Rooms

Both the male and the female wings are equipped with three seclusion rooms each. These rooms are used to temporarily house patients who have become a danger to themselves, or others. Each seclusion room supplies only a bed and a toilet to the patient, and patients in seclusion are monitored at all times. These rooms are not intended for long-term stays.

Level 5 Recreation Room

The level five recreation room is co-ed. As with the other recreation rooms, it provides a television, stereo and casual, comfortable seating. Games may be supplied by supervisory staff upon request.

Level 5 Showerhouse

The level five showerhouse is split up into two sections- Male and Female. Level 5 patients at high risk are monitored during showering and bathing activities by staff members of their own gender. Males are not permitted access to the female showerhouse section. Females are not permitted access to the male showerhouse section.

Nurses' Station

Patients who are on medications must report to the nurses' station on level five in the mornings and evenings for their dosage. Patients who receive medication three times a day must also report at lunchtimes. The nurses' station is the central hub for orderly patrols of the dormitory wings on this level.

Staff Lounge

The staff lounge is a place for facility staff of all kinds to grab a bite to eat, some coffee, or other refreshments. The lounge houses a television and stereo, and comfortable, casual seating, as well as a few tables and chairs for casual dining. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here for the staff and catered by the cafeteria. Other snacks are available throughout the day. The lounge leads out onto a large balcony overlooking the facility and grounds below.

Overnight Rooms

The overnight rooms are provided to staff working overnight shifts, or consecutive shifts at the facility. They provide a bedroom and bathroom with shower each, with a small balcony overlooking the facility and grounds below. A desk and armchair are also provided in each room.

Security Hub

The security hub is the nerve-centre of all facility surveillance. The main room consists of a bank of surveillance monitors and computers that control all facility doors and interactive security wall panels. Smaller rooms are provided for other duties, such as monitoring intranet communications, telephone calls and filtering incoming and outgoing mail.

Functions Room

The functions room is used for staff meetings, be they administrative, medical, psychiatric or security. The room houses a large board table with seating for many attendees, and light refreshments such as coffee and tea.

Thamesmead Condominiums

The condominium complex in Thamesmead is located just outside of facility grounds, and is owned and managed by Brideston Pharmacokinetics. These condominiums are supplied to facility staff at a significantly lowered price compared to local real estate and flats in The City. A number of different options are available to choose from. The Nag's Head

The Nag's Head, locally just known as 'The Nag's', is the closest pub to the Brideston facility and the Thamesmead Condominium Complex. It is a popular after-work hangout amongst facility staff. It supplies the usual beers on tap as well as the usual spirits expected of a mid-range pub. Tuesday nights are Pub Trivia nights, and every other Thursday, karaoke is set up in the back corner for patrons.

Thamesmead Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's is a widespread supermarket chain in the UK. The Thamesmead Branch is just what you'd expect of a supermarket, providing foods, toiletries and spirits to all townspeople and facility staff. This branch has a small cafe attached, offering hot and cold meals at a reasonable prices, as well as refreshments.

Plumstead Rail Station

For those without personal transport, the local railway station is the gateway to greater London outside of taking the bus. it's also a popular location for meeting up with others for a night out on the town. But beware of missing the last train home or you're in for a long walk or bus ride back.
